The reason I chose to study at SMB’s Brooksby Campus is because of the smaller class sizes, meaning we got more personalised teaching in our lectures. I really enjoyed the course, especially when we worked in small groups on a variety of projects – allowing me to get a good understanding of all areas of the industry including the behaviours, health and biology of a wide range of animals.
Since graduating, I have worked in retail to save money and I am now working out in the South African bush on a wildlife reserve. I will also be working at the same wildlife reserve for 6 months next year and then I’m hoping to progress into a career in Ecology and Conservation from there.
My advice to students looking to work in Animal Management is that it’s important to try a variety of fields that you’re interested in so that you can find out what suits you best and would be a good career option for you for the future.
