Sport is a huge part of what we do at SMB College Group and we have some fantastic partnerships with Leicester Tigers and Future Elite Sports.
Our Sports programmes are designed so you can become the best athlete you can be and train like a professional whilst working to gain nationally-recognised qualifications.
Our teaching staff come from fantastic and varied professional sports industry careers, bringing a breadth of knowledge and experience to SMB College Group and our students. They’ve all worked as specialists in their respective areas, previously working as sports coaches, strength and conditioning coaches and sports scientists in English Football League Clubs, Education, the British Army and more.
And it’s not just the teaching staff that are great - we’ve invested in our facilities and equipment to ensure you have access to the very best technology used in elite sport, including our Hudl Sports Coach, our Catapult GPS System and our drone, all to help you improve your performance as both athletes and students!
Our Leicester Tigers Rugby Programmes provide the opportunity for students of all genders to study a sports qualification alongside high quality rugby training with Tigers coaches, meaning you can be as great off the pitch as you are on it. Our range of courses provide fantastic opportunities both for players who aspire to progress into Elite Rugby, and those who play rugby purely for enjoyment.
SMB College Group continues to be the leading college represented within Leicester Tigers Academy, and has a great track record for alumni being named in England Rugby's under 18 squad. With three full-size grass rugby itches, a 3G pitch, a sports science lab, a large multi-functional sports hall, a Strength & Conditioning gym, and a functional fitness outdoor gym, there's nowhere better for young sportspeople to hone their skills whilst gaining their college qualifications.
A number of college alumni are regularly featured in the squad line-up for the Leicester Tigers first team, including George Martin, Archie Vanes, Sam Edwards, Lewis Chessum, Tim Hoyt, Morgan Meredith and Joseph Woodward. George has also gone on to gain several international caps playing for England Rugby. Additionally, a number of students represent England at Under 18 and Under 20 level, including Chester Owens, Morgan Meredith and Joseph Woodward, who has even captained the Under 18s team.

I feel like I gained a lot more knowledge of the game and improved my skills in the technical and tactical units. I was given really good support around my rugby and my college work, where reflective practice was encouraged through the DiSE qualification.
