SMB College Group is currently recruiting for new Governors to join the Corporation Board, a hugely rewarding voluntary leadership role!

SMB College Group is a vibrant college, specialising in land-based, technical, trade and creative arts and working with a host of employers across the region to meet local and national skills needs. The College prides itself on its extensive partnerships for the benefit of students and the wider community. Governors play a vital role in the running of the college and the successful candidate will make a real difference by contributing their skills and expertise.

SMB College Group's Governing Body comprises of a range of volunteers from the local community, in addition to current staff members and students. Governors bring experience from a wide range of industries including business, education, and the public service sector.

The Corporation Board meets on average five times a year, at least once a term, and members serve on one or more of the Corporation's committees. Governors can serve a maximum of two 4-year terms of office.

Being a governor at an FE College is a hugely rewarding leadership role, providing opportunities to make a difference and give something back to the local community. Volunteering as a Governor is a great way to contribute to your community, meet new people and improve the lives of those in or aspiring to Further Education. You will develop transferable skills whilst putting existing skills and experience to good use. A programme of training and development for governors is also provided.
