This April Women in Rock is coming to Melton Theatre, starring SMB College Group alumnus Jennifer Greene!
Jennifer studied Level 3 Musical Theatre with SMB College Group at their specialist creative campus in Melton Mowbray, which also houses Melton Theatre. She is also closely connected to the college through her father, Paul Greene, who was a Horticulture Lecturer at the college’s land-based Brooksby Campus for over 30 years.
As a part of the Women in Rock show, Jennifer will be performing as one of the front women as well as managing the production; working on vocals, choreography, staging and other logistics.
Women in Rock is the ultimate celebration of the greatest female rock anthems, featuring amazing vocal performances, choreography and costumes, supported by a band of world-class musicians. The show features hit songs from Cher, Blondie, Belinda Carlisle, Bonnie Tyler, Pink, Tina Turner and many more!
Regarding her time at the College and returning to Melton for Women in Rock, Jennifer said “I had the best time studying at SMB College Group, my time there was invaluable to helping me build a career in performing and solidified the idea that this is what I was meant to do. I have such fond memories of performing in Melton Theatre for college productions and various amateur dramatic shows - it feels a full circle moment to return with a professional show that I now manage, Women in Rock! I’m looking forward to seeing some familiar faces in the audience!"
Rachael Wilson, Lecturer in Performing Arts at SMB College Group and Jennifer’s former tutor, added “Jennifer was on our Level 3 Musical Theatre course over ten years ago. She was a role model student in every way. She was hard working, positive and determined to develop her skills to the highest possible level for her to be successful within the performing arts industry.
“Jenni embraced every performance opportunity both in and outside of college. Since leaving college, Jenni has had a wealth of experience including lead parts in pantomimes, guest spots on cruise ships, cabaret shows, and was also a lead vocalist in Andrew Lloyd Webbers European Gala Tour. Jenni deserves every success, and I cannot wait to see her rocking out in her Woman in Rock show in a couple of weeks!”
Since being established in 2016, Women in Rock have been wowing audiences of over 200,000 across the UK and Europe with their high energy performances, building a reputation as a leading rock show. The show takes audiences on a journey through five decades of female rock and power ballads, leaving them cheering for more.
