It’s important that you understand the full cost of your course and the support available. Here at SMB College Group, our Student Services team can provide advice and guide you through the process.

Below is an outline of basic age brackets and what may be involved.

  • College Course Fees

    The following information is applicable to those courses eligible for funding by the ESFA (Education and Skills Funding Agency). The fee remission categories only apply if you meet all of the relevant eligibility criteria as set out in the ESFA Funding Rules.

    If you are aged 16 to 18

    If you are under 19 on 31st August of the year in which you wish to join us, the course will be fully funded and, in most circumstances, there will be no fees for you to pay.

    If you are aged 19+

    If you are unemployed, in receipt of an eligible state benefit, seeking employment, and studying up to a Level 2, course tuition and exam fees will be waived.

    You can also receive free tuition if you are;

    • 19 to 23* and studying an Entry or Level 1 qualification that supports progression to your first full Level 2 qualification.
    • 19 to 23* and are looking to achieve your first full Level 2 or 3 qualification and studying one of the eligible qualifications.

    (*The age applies on the day you actually start the course, as long as you are over 18 on the 31st August).

    Other course-related fees (for example, materials) may still apply.

    If you are aged 19 - 23 (or over) on 31st August and do not qualify for a fee reduction, you will be charged an annual tuition fee along with associated exam related fees. Other course-related fees may also apply. You may, however, be eligible for the Advanced Learner Loan to cover your tuition fees. You can find out more about the financial support here.

  • English and Maths

    All English and Maths courses are free to all students who have not yet achieved GCSE English and/or Maths at either grade A* – C or 9 – 4.

    Fees will apply to those wishing to improve on their grades.

  • Higher Education Fees
