Choosing to do musical theatre was a tough decision with all my friends going on to do A-levels but I wanted nothing more than to peruse my career in performing arts. Needless to say, SMB College Group and all of its tutors made it the best decision.
I learnt a lot about the industry each discipline and business side behind it all, within the process of this my confidence grew as before I was quite a quiet individual and they gave me the opportunities to shine. Tutors throughout the course were amongst some of the best professionals I've worked with, they devised and directed performances to a high standard with the process being fun and insightful. Tutors Ross woods and Cat did a show called 21grams with my class incorporating contemporary dance/theatre, whilst not a musical was one of our favourite shows in our time at College as we felt we achieved so much through gaining further skills in disciplines we weren't as knowledgeable in. Ross and Cat were both very supportive and gave everyone the chance to develop. Another of my personal favourites was our last show fame, directed by Bernice Rowan it was one of the most enjoyable processes as Bernice is an excellent director and gets involved in everything, she is incredibly kind and easy to talk to tutor who makes sure your getting on ok regularly. When coming to the sad time of goodbyes I was torn about which way I wanted to go they gave me lots of places I could go further.
I stayed In touch and decided to further study in community arts so I'm currently in my second year of a BA (Hons) at Birmingham school of acting doing applied performance community and education. Without the skills and education at SMB College Group, I wouldn't have had the chance to do this course and peruse my career in performing arts.
