New Students Project

Planning Educational Information on threats to Wild Animals and their Habitats around the Globe

What will you do?

Choose a wild animal species from around the world that is at threat from human influences and its numbers are declining in the wild.

Produce an range of educational resources that can be displayed in a zoological collections education department and on the information board outside the species you have chosen enclosure that contains the following information:

  • Wild facts about the species including pictures
  • Why the species is on the decline with clear information about the key threats in the country they are found in and why it is happening
  • What conservation activities are being undertaken to protect the species and its habitat
  • How  zoos are getting involved in raising the public awareness of the species  and its decline in numbers along with the threats to its habitat
  • How breeding programmes in zoos are supporting the increase in the number of theses species in captivity to support the species survival
