Last week, SMB College Group’s Stephenson Campus were delighted to accept the donation of some diagnostic equipment for its Vehicle Engineering Department from the Rotary Club of Ashby Hastings!

The donation, an Autel diagnostics kit, will be used by the college’s students and apprentices as a part of their education programmes, helping them to develop the vital skills they need to become industry-ready.

Representatives from Ashby Hastings Rotary, Geoffrey Wilson and George Stewart, visited the college last week to officially make the donation, see the equipment in action and have a tour of the college’s specialist technical and trade campus.

Paul Dancer, Director of Curriculum for Engineering at SMB College Group, said ‘We are thrilled with the donation of this piece of kit. This equipment will benefit several cohorts of our students and will be well-used in the department for years to come. Our sincere thanks goes out to George, Geoffrey and Ashby Hastings Rotary.’

Geoffrey and George noted that they would like this donation to be made in the name of former Rotary member, John Roth, who sadly passed away last year, stating that ‘John was very interested in the technical sector, being a physics graduate himself. He also looked after The Rotary Foundation (Rotary’s Charity) for a number of years and is greatly missed by the organisation.’

SMB College Group’s Stephenson Campus is SMB College Group’s specialist technical and trade campus, situated in Coalville, Leicestershire.
