On Tuesday 8th June, SMB College Group was delighted to welcome the Lord-lieutenant of Leicestershire, Michael Kapur OBE, to our Brooksby Campus!

This visit from the Lord-lieutenant, along with prominent Melton figures, Matthew O’Callaghan and Stephen Hallam, came as part of a full-day tour of Melton Mowbray.

Upon arrival to the Brooksby Campus, the esteemed guests were greeted by Chief Executive and Principal, Dawn Whitemore, and Vice Principal for Business Development, Lisa Craddock.  The party then enjoyed a specially prepared three-course meal at Brooksby Hall, a stunning 16th century manor house in the heart of the college’s 850-acre Brooksby Campus.

The visit provided the perfect opportunity to discuss how the college group can support Royal Melton – a four-day celebration for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, which will be taking place from 2nd – 5th June 2022.

Dawn Whitemore, Principal and Chief Executive of SMB College Group, said ‘We were absolutely delighted to welcome the Lord-lieutenant, along with Matthew O’Callaghan and Stephen Hallam, to our Brooksby Campus this week. The college is very much looking forward to continued collaborations with the Royal Melton team, and we are excited about the prospect of our students being involved next year’s festivities.’

Michael Kapur OBE has held the role of Lord Lieutenant, in which he is the Queen’s representative in the county, for the last three years. He also currently serves as the Chairman of the National Space Centre in Leicester.
