We’re very excited to announce that 5 of our Media Makeup students from the Melton Campus have successfully progressed to the national finals of the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) Student Competition!

The Association of Hairdressers and Therapists was founded in 1963 by a group of hairdressing teachers as a national network of like-minded specialists who exchanged good practice and support. They now run a series of prestigious competitions each year, which see hundreds of student entries from Colleges across the country.

Our Media Makeup students have spent the last few months preparing for the regional heats, which took place in Stamford in March.

Each student practised a unique makeup look for their chosen category, which they then had to recreate on the day within a fixed time, competing against other Colleges from the Midlands.

Progressing on to the National Finals are:

  • Xena Owen - 1st place in the ‘Halloween Face Paint’ category
  • Olivia Ison - 1st place in the ‘1920's Makeup’ category
  • Daisy Taylor - 2nd place in the ‘Bridal Makeup’ category
  • Daisy Madden – 2nd place in the ‘1920's Makeup’ category
  • Natalia Bognar - 2nd place in ‘Carnival Total Look’ category

These five students will now compete against the successful entries from the other Regional Heats, on Monday 23rd May at the Norbreck Castle Hotel in Blackpool.

Congratulations to everyone who entered and good luck in May!
