An exciting opportunity has arisen for BMC's Fly Dance Company, who will be performing alongside the Melton Mowbray Choral Society at St. Mary’s Church on Saturday 26th October. The performance will center on a piece of music called Eternal Light, a beautiful and complex composition written by Howard Goodall. This unique opportunity arose when the college was asked to participate by James Gutteridge, Musical Director of the Melton Mowbray Choral Society. The students, a mixture of Level 3 and degree students, been hard at work rehearsing for what promises to be a stunning performance. BMC Performing Arts Lecturer, Jade Yeow, said ‘We are always looking for exciting new opportunities for our students and this event will be a real highlight this year. Performing such a moving and powerful piece in St. Mary’s and working alongside the choral society.’ BMC offers Performing Arts courses at Level 3 and degree level. In addition to trips and external performances, students benefit from regularly performing at Melton Theatre, a 500-seat commercial venue housed at the college’s Melton Campus. In addition, a £27.7 million investment in facilities across both BMC campuses has allowed students to benefit from a 60-seat studio theatre space with full lighting and sound, mirrored rehearsal studios with sprung floors, one of the largest infinity green screens outside of London, and state-of-the-art sound booths The Melton Mowbray Choral Society has been performing together since reforming in 2013. With over 50 members, they often perform concerts alongside professional soloists in addition to their annual Christmas Carol Concert. The Eternal Light performance will take place at 7:30pm on Saturday 26th October. Tickets are available from Samworth Centre or at website here.
