SMB College Group has officially opened the doors to its brand-new, state-of-the-art Plumbing & Gas Academy in partnership with Worcester Bosch! 
Working closely with Worcester Bosch and Resideo for the launch of the new academy, the workshops aim to provide students with advanced technology and equipment for them to become qualified in Plumbing and Gas.
The launch event, which took place earlier this academic year, began with an opening speech from SMB College Group Principal and CEO, Dawn Whitemore, followed by ribbon cutting to welcome several local and national employers to celebrate the grand opening.
Section Manager of the Plumbing & Gas department, Mark Bradbury, delivered a presentation praising his team at the Stephenson Campus for all their help and ideas they have brought to the Academy, and he also thanked the companies that have supported the new facilities, including Worcester Bosch, Resideo, and Severn Trent.
Mark said, “A huge thankyou to my team who have been on this journey and who have been outstanding in their support, passion and professionalism.
“Without teamwork we would have not been able to reach this milestone. I’m looking forward to another 12 months with exciting future plans already in place.”
Mark expressed the opportunities that will come with the opening of the Plumbing & Gas Academy, such as: full-time study programmes, apprenticeships in gas engineering and plumbing, bespoke courses for employers, adult evening provision, green technology, and more.
The Plumbing & Gas Academy also gives the College the opportunity to relaunch its commercial courses.
During the event, Debbie Keegan, Director of Employers, Partnerships & Employability at SMB College Group, also gave a short presentation on Apprenticeships, T Levels, and the Employer Skills Forum - which gives employers the opportunity to work collaboratively with the College so that the courses are employer-led, and are guaranteed to meet the demands of the industry.
