Megan Neave, former Level 3 student at SMB College Group’s Stephenson Campus, will soon be competing in this year’s Paralympic Games as part of the 26-strong Team GB Swimming Team.
Megan, who secured her Paralympic nomination in London at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships, studied at the college’s Stephenson Campus in Coalville for three years, achieving her Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care.
Sahra Hassan, Health & Social Care Lecturer at SMB College Group, said “Megan is a bright, resilient, and positive person who's worked incredibly hard to secure a well-deserved place in the 2024 Paralympics. We’re so proud of Meg and will be cheering her on when she competes this summer!”
Megan is a European silver medallist, securing this international medal earlier this year in Madeira ahead of her upcoming debut Paralympic Games appearance in Paris this August.
Having achieved success nationally in para-swimming junior competitions, Megan won her first Para Swimming World Series medal during the 2023 season – multi-classification bronze in the 200m Freestyle in Limoges, France, and followed that up with 100m backstroke gold at the opening leg of the 2024 series in Aberdeen.
All the Paralympic games will be available to watch on Channel 4 - keep an eye out for Megan and help us cheer her on!
