Last week, SMB College Group launched their brand new Gas and Plumbing Commercial training area – based at their Stephenson Campus in Coalville!
Many attendees visited the campus for the Centre’s official launch event, including local industry professionals and current Gas and Plumbing students. They were welcomed by SMB College Group’s CEO and Principal, Dawn Whitemore, who stated during her speech that this is ‘A fantastic opportunity to make something special here.’
Guests were also given the opportunity to view the college’s state-of-the-art facilities and equipment and speak to academic staff, all of whom are themselves experts within the industry.
Mark Bradbury, Section Manager for Gas and Plumbing said, ‘At the SMB College Group Gas and Plumbing Academy, we are pleased to open our Gas centre for all local and national business’s to be able to use for ACS, Unvented and Water Regulations requirements. The centre is an additional curriculum area that we have added to the offer of full-time and apprenticeship courses. We are delighted to open the centre and look forward to serving all our existing and new customers in the future.’
The college’s Stephenson Campus, which is well-known for its high standard technical and trade courses, boasts state of the art working environments for a number of different subjects, including Gas and Plumbing, Construction, Engineering, and more – with the new commercial Gas centre being a fantastic addition to the site!
In addition to being used for a range of brand new commercial short courses, the new facilities will also be utilised by Apprentices who are on their study release at Stephenson Campus, in addition to the college’s full-time students.
When talking about how the facilities would benefit apprenticeships, Chris Northage (of CD Northage & co.) said ‘The gas centre is fabulous, it is modern and practical, and fills a vital gap within Gas apprenticeships that has been present for the past few years.’
The Centre gives the opportunity for professionals out in the work place to access a central point for all things learning, including the opportunity to build new skills and also refresh old ones. A variety of courses are available and the team are on hand to discuss your individual training requirements.
