In celebration of National Apprenticeship week, SMB College Group is looking back at some of the amazing achievements of their apprenticeship students this past year.
Construction Support Technician student and apprentice at Davidson Homes, Harry Willars, won Davidsons’ Apprentice of the Year 2022 for his continued efforts and outstanding work as an apprentice and trainee!
Jason Glover, Operations Director for Davidsons Homes, said: “It’s vital to encourage the next generation of talented, dedicated young people into the construction industry, and Harry is a shining example of that.
There are so many brilliant opportunities within the construction industry for those looking at a successful, fulfilling career, and it’s important that we as housebuilders have robust and welcoming schemes for young people to find their place within the trade.”
Harry attends Stephenson Campus where he spends one week out of every five/six in the college and the remainder of his time getting invaluable hands-on experience working and learning a multitude of disciplines in the construction industry at Davidsons Homes.
Davidsons Homes is a family owned company with over 3 generations of experience and success in building homes across the Midlands.
Harry said: “Their apprenticeship course is so thorough, because you spend a full year out onsite learning exactly how they build houses, before you do anything else. I originally joined with the intention of heading for the Design team, but actually I realised that I love working in every department.
Davidsons Homes as a company have been incredible. Everyone there wants you to gain all the knowledge and training possible to be successful. No one has minded me asking questions, they’ve all been so helpful. I couldn’t recommend them enough.
Whatever path I choose in August, I’d like it to be with Davidsons. And whatever it is, I know I’ll enjoy it and will put 100 per cent of my efforts and determination into doing a good job.”
SMB College Group is incredibly proud of Harry and all the hard work he has done in the past year to earn such an achievement and we cannot wait to see how far he goes.
