Our courses will give you the relevant knowledge, understanding and practical skills necessary to be career ready at the end of your study. All aspects of the course are delivered at our Brooksby campus, where you can access a range of horses, from novice to advanced, and state-of-the-art facilities such as the Brooksby Equestrian Rehabilitation Centre.

What will I learn?
This course offers two pathways. Riding Pathway Modules; Work Experience; Carrying out Stable Duties; Feeding and Watering; Horse Handling; Keeping Horses at Grass; Horse Biology; Riding Horses on the Flat; Riding Horses Over Fence. Non-Riding Pathway Modules: Work Experience; Carrying Out Stable Duties; Feeding and Watering; Horse Handling; Keeping Horses at Grass; Maintenance of Horse Tack and Clothing; Introduction to Lunging Horses. Our students also benefit from: A wide range of trips! Previous students have visited: Blenheim Horse Trials, Twycross Zoo, Duabi, Ireland, National Stud, the National Horse Racing Museum, Leicester Racecourse, Simon Grieve Eventing, West Midlands Safari Park and Kings' Troop Royal Horse Artillery; Take an industry-relevant short course alongside your full-time qualification, such as Emergency First Aid; Careers talks from nationally and internationally recognised professionals; take part in charity events, themed weeks and exercise classes such as dodgeball, boxercise and yoga!

Where could this course lead to?
Our students go on to our Level 3 Equine course or into employment. Upon successful completion of the Level 3 course, learners can progress on to Higher Education and successful careers across all areas of the Equestrian industry, including grooms, riding instructors, eventing, behaviourists, rehabilitation, industry-retail, feed companies and teaching.

What qualifications or experience do I need?
4 GCSEs at Grade D/3 or above including English, Maths, Science or Level 1 Animal Care and Entry 3 Functional Skills. If you miss the English and/or Maths requirements of your course, don't worry - there are options to study these alongside your course.
