If you love the outdoors and its wildlife, have a passion for gardening and are keen on conservation, then one of our Horticulture Apprenticeships are perfect for you! Our Horticulture Apprenticeships are not just about plants and flowers, they're about the future of horticulture and how technology can assist with sustainability, economy, and our very own futures.
Students will cover topics such as soil science, machinery, identification of plants, sports turf, estate skills, and much more. SMB College Group works closely with the Royal Horticultural Society and the UK Charity Heritage Seed Library, even working to grow rare species of plants to preserve for future generations.
Our Brooksby Campus is perfect for studying for a career in this dynamic and vitally important sector. As well as the fantastic 850-acre Brooksby estate, our horticulture facilities include five acres of formal gardens and state-of-the-art glasshouses.
Our Apprenticeships will enable you to progress and cover a range of skills, whether you are looking to be an estate manager, groundskeeper, gardener, or plant breeder.
Apprenticeships give you a great start in your chosen career. They offer a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn, giving you the skills employers want and a nationally recognised qualification at the same time. Through a mix of on-site college attendance, visits from your college assessors, and time developing your practical skills and knowledge on the job, an apprenticeship is a great way to undertake your training.
Here at SMB College Group, we pride ourselves on Sustainability and helping to shape the future of land management – especially at our 850-acre Brooksby Campus! We have lots of exciting projects going on to make the future of our college as sustainable as possible. Find out more at the link below!

I would recommend the course because I was able to learn and build upon many skills which I was then able to use in my own garden but also to educate others.
