Future Elite Sports are working with SMB College Group on an exciting new Further Education programme for 16-18 year old students, combining expert football coaching with nationally recognised qualifications.

Based at the college’s 850-acre Brooksby Campus in Leicestershire, the programme will allow students to study Level 3 Sport or Level 3 Sports Science, learning from industry-expert teaching staff in the college’s £3.6million Sports facilities.

Participating students will benefit from a specialised timetable including academic studies and football coaching with UEFA qualified coaches, in addition to strength and conditioning, performance analysis and recovery sessions.

In addition, students will have regular meetings with Future Elite Academy staff to explore progression options, with routes including scholarships in the USA, opportunities to play in the USA/Australia/New Zealand, and/or progressing onto higher study at University.

This option is a welcome addition to the successful degree programme that the college already runs in partnership with Future Elite Sports, which successfully launched in September 2021.

The degree programme students are getting along great with their course and training.

Andy Graham, Section Manager for Sport at SMB College Group, said ‘At SMB College Group, we are excited to be able to expand our hugely popular and successful partnership with Future Elite Academy for talented young footballers who are wishing to continue with their football development alongside a high-quality education programme.’

Director of Future Elite Sports, Greg Josling, added ‘Our aim is to help develop players into the best players they can be through full-time coaching, strength & conditioning and analysis sessions. Upon finishing their BTEC course, all students will have the opportunity to progress into our Higher Education football academy, or will have the option to study in America on a soccer scholarship through our established USA scholarship division.’

Facilities at the college’s Brooksby Campus, which is also home to programmes in partnership with Leicester Tigers Rugby and Charnwood Rutland Netball, include an FA approved 3G pitch, four grass pitches, a full-size sports hall, a strength and conditioning gym, and sports science facilities with a range of performance analysis equipment.

Accommodation is also available on-site at the Brooksby Campus, in addition to a range of college bus routes and great public transport links across the county.
