Apprentice Bricklayer at Barratt Developments, Luke Dean, was named runner up in the 19-25 category at the Youth Build UK Awards, held at the House of Commons earlier this month.
Luke, who studies at our Stephenson Campus in Coalville, was nominated by Heather Hughes, his former Barratt Apprentice Champion from the Exeter Division, on the recommendation of his tutor for overcoming adversity in his early life and for his hard work and dedication to his apprenticeship.
Brickwork Tutor, Andy Martin, said, “Luke’s hard work, perseverance, and commitment to bricklaying has really paid off.
Today is a special day to honour all those young people coming into the construction industry, who have overcome or overcoming barriers in life.
“Luke is an honour to teach and it’s great to see how far he’s come to date, and how far he will progress in the future.”
Youth Build UK works with employers and organisations in the construction industry to share best practice and to celebrate young people’s success each year.
We offer a range of construction courses across our Stephenson and Brooksby Campuses - discover more at our upcoming open days!
