The Level 1 Diploma in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children's and Young People's Settings is a one-year course that aims to develop your knowledge and awareness of health, social care in children's and young people's settings. It is aimed at learners who wish to develop an understanding of the similarities and differences between these settings.

You will be taught using a range of methods to support and develop your understanding.

  • What will I learn?
    You will be introduced to a range of topics to include duty of care, self-development, safeguarding, communication, equality and inclusion, principles and values, mental health, autistic spectrum condition, person centred support, dementia, health and safety, learning disability, service provision and roles and human growth and development. You will complete 60 hours work experience in a relevant work-based setting. You will continue to study Maths and English alongside your course.
  • How will I be assessed?
    You will be assessed through assignments, projects, and course work.
  • Where could this course lead to?
    Progression onto the Level 2 Health and Social Care course if Maths and English is achieved at 3 or above.
  • What qualifications or experience do I need?
    Grade 2 or above in Maths and English.
