If you are looking to start a career within the dog grooming industry, then this is qualification is aimed at you. Working with dogs is extremely rewarding, but it can require long hours with dedication and enthusiasm to the role a key to success.
You need to achieve the City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants prior to undertaking this qualification. You will gain the practical the skills and knowledge that are important for working as a Professional Dog Groomer. You could be self-employed, work for a business or franchise, and it could be based in a salon or a mobile unit.
This is a City & Guilds accredited full cost course.

What will I learn?

Mandatory content covers: - Health and safety, legislation and codes of practice for the dog grooming industry - Styling and finishing a dog - Health checking and handing a dog in a dog grooming environment - Customer service and record keeping in a dog grooming environment - You will be assessed by practical assessments, portfolio work and a final externally led examination. Achievement of this qualification demonstrates to an employer/the public that you have the necessary technical skills and knowledge they are looking for when recruiting/seeking the services of a Professional Dog Groomer.

What qualifications or experience do I need?
Learners must have successfully completed the Level 2 Dog Grooming qualification and completed at least 50 hours work experience within a grooming salon. You must be 16+ and will need to complete an enrolment form and bring photo ID with you on your first session. We also ask that candidates continue working at a salon whilst completing the course, aiming to complete at least 100 hours in total. We highly recommend that you have access to a minimum of 3 dogs (aged 6 months or over) with suitable coat types throughout the course. All dogs will need proof of up-to-date vaccinations. Students should be prepared to attend all lessons.
