You will receive a thorough grounding in the skills and knowledge you will need to complete your course and have the opportunity to progress to Level 3. You will learn about the wider construction industry such as laying bricks, blocks and other types of building components in mortar to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches and other structures.

  • What will I learn?

    Units you will learn:

    • Mandatory Health and Safety Units 
    • Communications in the Building Trade 
    • Stacking, storing, receiving, resources and disposal of waste
    • Brickwork, Blockwork, Cavity and Solid Walls 
    • Setting out Masonry Structures plus optional units.
  • How will I learn?
    You will receive underpinning knowledge, theory and basic practical skills at the College. Further training of practical skills will take place with your employer in the workplace.
  • How will I be assessed?
    Ongoing assessments throughout your course with an End Point Assessment carried out by external assessors.
  • Where could this course lead to?
    Possible progression to Level 3 Advanced Construction Apprenticeship in the Built Environment.
  • What qualifications or experience do I need?
    You will have an interview and undertake both diagnostic testing and a CITB aptitude test. This ensures your basic skills are appropriate for the level of the course.
