These qualifications provide the ideal introduction to the construction industry and cover essential skills in the following construction trades: bricklaying, carpentry and joinery, plastering, painting and decorating, construction operations, wall and floor tiling, electrical and plumbing.

These qualifications are suitable for individuals of any wanting an introduction to the variety of construction trades, to gain skills in those areas and perhaps to decide which trade is the right one to pursue a career in.

  • What will I learn?

    You will study units including:

    • Basic Health and Safety
    • Principles of building
    • Introduction to Carpentry skills
    • Introduction to Bricklaying skills
    • Introduction to Plumbing skills
    • Introduction to Painting and decorating skills
    • Plus a range of other construction skills
  • How will I be assessed?
    Assessment take place at the end of each unit and are both practical with some theory questions.
  • Where could this course lead to?

    Achievement of one of these qualifications confirms the learner has gained the knowledge and skills required to:

    • Progress into further learning at a higher level or move into an apprenticeship to study at the next level in industry.
  • What qualifications or experience do I need?
    There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however you will need to complete an interview and English and Maths assessment and be able to demonstrate the ability to work at level 1. During the interview you will also be asked to complete some practical diagnostics to ascertain suitability for the programme.
