The BSc Sports Science (Coaching & Performance Analysis) (Top-up)* is for those students who have completed a HND or Foundation Degree in a relevant subject. This course provides a specialist programme that will allow students to develop a higher level of understanding in coaching, sports performance and performance enhancement.

A research project, as well as an applied experience module, will allow students to tailor their learning to determine their subject specialism in sports and equip them with skills and experience for their desired career.

Alongside their study, students will have the opportunity to gain additional vocational professional qualifications at an additional cost to enhance their future employability.

Our teaching staff come from fantastic and varied professional careers bringing a breadth of knowledge and experience to SMB College Group and our students. They've all worked as specialists in their area, previously working in the professional sports industry as sports coaches, strength and conditioning coaches and sports scientists in English Football League Clubs, Education and the British Army.

  • What will I learn?

    Students will learn through a mixture of lessons and seminars

    Guided Independent Learning: 120 hours

    Teaching: 90 hours

    • Industry Experience in Coaching & Performance Analysis
    • Applied Sports Technology for Performance Enhancement
    • Advanced Coaching Practice
  • How will I be assessed?
    Assessment methods are varied dependent on the module but include written reports, practical delivery, professional discussions and presentations.
  • Where could this course lead to?
    Students can progress onto a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education, graduate schemes, Masters programmes, or into employment. Expected areas of progression include sports coaching, personal training, strength and conditioning, performance analysis.
  • What qualifications or experience do I need?
    120 Credits at Level 4 and 120 Credits at Level 5 in a relevant subject (Merit profile). A bridging assignment may also be required.
