If you have a strong interest in animals and would like to pursue a career within the field of Animal Management, there is no better place to study than SMB! This course will enable you to work with a range of animals and develop your practical skills. The college provides industry-relevant experience, onsite at our Brooksby Campus, working with small animals. Units of study in the programme will also provide you with underpinning knowledge of animal health, behaviour, food and care requirements.

      306: Undertake Animal Handling and Safe Working
      307: Undertake and Review Work Related Experience in the Land-based Sector (includes 150 hours in industry)
      310: Understand and Interpret Animal Behaviour and Communication
      312: Understand Animal Welfare and Breed Development
      314: Understand the Principles and Carry out the Practical of Exotic Animal Health and Husbandry
      316: Undertake Pet Store Design and Animal Management
      150 hours work related experience
  • Where could this course lead to?
    Successful completion of our Level 3 Animal Management course will allow learners to progress on to Higher Education, an apprenticeship or employment, or our T Level Animal Management and Behaviour course. Our students go on to develop careers in veterinary medicine and nursing, dog training and grooming, kennel/cattery management, education, zoo keeping, animal rehabilitation, animal welfare, nutrition, conservation and more.

    5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 4 or above including Maths, English and Science (preferably Biology).
