What will I learn?
The broad purpose of the occupation is to service, repair and maintain lift trucks and powered access vehicles. This can include manual, electric, diesel, LPG, and hybrid powered machines both tracked and wheeled, vertical mast type machines both static and self-propelled along with equipment mounted on vehicles, such as; fork lift, scissor lift, vertical mast, articulated and telescopic boom, elevated work platform machines both static and self-propelled along with equipment mounted on vehicles. There are also Lift Truck and Powered Access machines specially designed to meet specific applications.

How will I learn?
You will complete your knowledge elements in College and your competency elements from your workplace job card. You will be required to have at least 6 hours a week off-the-job traning during your apprenticeship.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed completing practical tasks in the College and observed in your normal workplace completing diagnostic and rectification of faults in all vehicle areas. Your Assessor/Trainer will help you identify suitable work evidence to collect, observe your performance, give guidance when writing personal statements, carry out professional discussions and give you feedback on how you have met the learning outcomes and evidence requirements. At each visit, the Assessor/Trainer will agree and record an action plan with you and provide you with written feedback.

What qualifications or experience do I need?
Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment.

How long is the course?
The apprenticeship is scheduled over 36 months to completion of End Point Assessment (EPA).
