I studied Musical Theatre at Melton and couldn’t have asked for a better experience during my time there. A mix of great rehearsal spaces, our own theatre and enthusiastic tutors meant I was challenged and pushed to be the best I could be on a daily basis. I am now in my final year at drama school (The Arden School of Theatre) and have begun teaching singing at a theatre school, I am exactly where I dreamed I’d be at this stage in my life and I credit my time at college for it
Choosing to do musical theatre was a tough decision with all my friends going on to do A-levels but I wanted nothing more than to peruse my career in performing arts. Needless to say, SMB College Group and all of its tutors made it the best decision.
During my time at the college I had the opportunity to play lead roles in brilliant musicals like 'Footloose' and 'Fame!' in the beautiful onsite theatre, but I also got an insight into other jobs that exist within the industry; for example, when me and a classmate designed the lighting for one of our projects.
The two years I spent at Brooksby taught me a lot about myself. Years previous, I had dropped out of two colleges and failed to complete my A-Levels; the BTEC in Acting constantly kept me in interested in learning and the tutors’ passion for their subject willed me on to finish my course.
My time at Brooksby was two years of phenomenal memories and incredible advice. From the push and belief of the tutors, to the friendships made. From the projects came some seriously brilliant pieces of work. The facilities at the college are beyond fabulous.
